The Destroyers

Meet the Destroyers. Don't turn you back even for a minute. This unsuspecting mother of twins turned her back for only 2 minutes - and in that time these ruthless destroyers worked together to first move a chair, then open a cabinet, next throw the games (once in the cabinet) all over the family room. Beware CandyLand... Beware Chutes and Ladders... Beware Discovery Toys and Beware Puzzles everywhere- they will hunt you down, pull you out of hiding and destroy every part of you- all the while laughing out loud. Here they are below... be on the lookout.
How do they continue to get away with such destruction? Their good looks of course...

Day at the Park

Three cute kids at the park... no explanation needed.

"All my toys are boring!"

I don't know if it is just my kids, but lately they are not really that interested in toys. They would rather play with just about anything other than toys. Their favorite non- toys are measuring cups, whisks, water, paper towels, boxes, dirt, leaves, mixing bowls, and books. Don't get me wrong, there are several toys I would not even think to part with, Woody and Jessie, Puppers, cars, baby dolls, a Fraggle Rock guitar (I got it for a quarter and it is missing a string, but my kids have played with this for hours on end), and some various VeggieTales toys. But, honestly, I think I could get rid of the rest of our toys and they would not even notice!!! After moving box after box of toys and seeing how they barely even touch them, I am tempted to try it. Honestly, does more "things" really make anyone's life better???
So after a morning of hearing Ethan complain about being bored with his toys I decided to put him to work. I set him tot he task of washing the windows in our house- and he loved it! After 30 minutes of spraying wiping, and repeating (with joy) - I was left wondering what other child labor laws I can break! Below is the worker in action!!!

So what about you and yours??
Other than toys and TV, how do you creatively entertain your kiddos??

Fall is Here

I know, it has been a ridiculously long time since I posted.
Well, what can I say... Fall is here.
And, with it the rush of new activities. Not a complaint- just the facts.
I LOVE FALL.
Every little detail of it.
Pumpkins, rustlings leaves, apple cider, warm colors, crisp morning and evening air,
hayrides, school starting, apple crisp... what's not to like!
Here are a couple of shots of the kiddos. Happy Fall everyone.

Three Little Hoots.

Ethan and the scarecrow.

Livy dragging the scarecrow around the house.

She is fascinated with him- as if this is the long lost triplet.

Soccer Has Begun!

Ethan started his second year of soccer on Wednesday Night.
I was shocked to learn the teams are no longer co-ed and now have a practice and a game each week (what are they - 10?).
This seems like a lot to me for a 4.5 year old, but we will see how it goes.
He enjoyed this first practice,
although he thinks it is a big joke (or at least a weird rule)
that you can't touch the ball with your hands.
Ethan with his team - the Torpedoes. Can you find the red head?

Livy and Isaac explored other fields while big brother practiced. I think they may have had more fun than Ethan (since we usually don't even get them out of the stroller).

Livy watching the practice.

Here is Isaac with his funky hair style.

I think we are going to try and go to Great Clips this weekend.

First Day of School

"Finally, I get to go back to school and get a break from these babies!"

Ethan smiling for the camera (on cue - can you tell- looks a little forced to me).

But, forced or not, he was trilled to start a new school and new school year.

This is Ethan contemplating... "What will I do at my new school??"

Here he is displaying his school bag.. another forced smile.

His teachers made one of these bags for every kid in the class... cool huh! Ethan was thrilled. His teacher told him this week he was a good apple. Eve though Ethan has no idea what being a "good apple" means he was eager to pass the news on to me.

Ethan really enjoyed the first week of school and seems to be adjusting to the move and the new school really well. We are thrilled with the new school and how everything has worked out... but I don't think anything is as exciting as the fact that I don't have to get the twins out of the car to drop him off or pick him up!!!! Life is all about priorities ;).
“When I was young, I said to God, 'God, tell me the mystery of the universe.' But God answered, 'That knowledge is for me alone.' So I said, 'God, tell me the mystery of the peanut.' Then God said, 'Well George, that's more nearly your size.' And he told me.”- George Washington Carver
