Easter at the Lake

On Good Friday we took the kids out to Falls Lake. The lake is really close to my (Shannon's) parents house. They love being outdoors and the weather was gorgeous. Isaac and Grandad

Isaac unsure about the grass and the wind.

Livy enjoying the tire swing

Ethan playing on the shore. Thirty minutes later he is crying about being wet...

Easter at Home

Three Easter Baskets waiting for Eager Hands!!!
(Notice Olivia's is full of shoes... I am starting her young!!!)

Ethan finds the baskets. His favorite discovery was the "huge" chocolate bunny.

Soccer - Take Two!

Some of you may remember our blog entry last September about Ethan playing soccer. Well, little did I know that when we signed him up for Under 4 soccer in the fall we were also signing him up for under 4 in the spring. Anyway, even though last time was a complete disaster, full of tears, temper tantrums, and already tired parents. We decided to give it another shot (since we had already paid last Fall). So on Sunday afternoon our big boy went out for a second attempt and LOVED IT!! No tears, no temper tantrums, and two (only slightly) tired parents!! He participated, had fun with the other kids, and listened to the coach. He even wants to go back... last time he would not even go on the field. What a difference six months can make!!! We are not really pushing soccer at all- but are thrilled that he wants to enjoy it!! Here are a couple cute shots of our little pro!! Listening to the coach... isn't my big boy still adorable!!

Warming up.

Running around the field to warm up... Ethan is the one in the very back- tagging the flag pole.

A little friendly scrimmage.

(Really it just amounted to 10 kids chasing the ball back and forth)

The babes enjoyed watching and having an afternoon snack in the sun.

Almost time for Easter

Well we have pulled out the Easter decorations.. Easter sure is early this year!!
(It won't be this early again for over 200 years!!)
But I am ready for the return of flowers, sunshine, and weather that does not require a jacket!!
Here is Olivia with Ethan's Easter Basket. She is obsessed with the plastic eggs.
She like to crawl right in the basket and check each one out.
Also notice that she is only wearing one sock.. she will not leave two socks on. She nearly always pulls one off immediately (but never both).

Isaac checking out the hallway. He has finally started to crawl and pull himself up (in the last month). I am constantly amazed that two babies who spend every waking and sleeping moment together can be so different. They have the same family, schedule, food, stimuli, etc. Yet, they are alike in only a few ways... mainly they are both very social and generally happy babies. But, there is no end to the differences...

Livy is a great sleeper at night, Isaac is a great sleeper during the day.
Livy crawled at 7 months, Isaac crawled at 10.

Livy would eat Macaroni and Cheese for every meal, every day of the week. Isaac loves meat and bananas.

Livy is very vocal and very active. Most of the time Isaac is content just watching and is smiling at everyone.

Having twins has taught me a lot of things, but one I will share here is this: typical healthy babies develop when they are ready- not because of baby Einstein, baby gymnastics, or what food they eat. Wish I could have already believed this 4 years ago - when I was going through everything with Ethan. Oh well!

“When I was young, I said to God, 'God, tell me the mystery of the universe.' But God answered, 'That knowledge is for me alone.' So I said, 'God, tell me the mystery of the peanut.' Then God said, 'Well George, that's more nearly your size.' And he told me.”- George Washington Carver
